My story begins in 1964 when, as a young child, I learned to sew to make clothes for my Barbie. My passion for fashion flared in high school when I started making my own clothes. Later, as a stay at home mom I was able to pursue my passion and create my own line of clothing. I was delighted to discover that there was a market for my styles. When the demand became too much for me to handle at home I asked a friend to join me and we opened our first store. A few years later I bought her out, renamed the store Darlene's Boutique & Gift Shop, and shifted my focus from manufacturing to retail. I love my job; I still get to experience the joy of a little girl dressing up Barbie, but I now have the genuine satisfaction of providing quality service to my customers.
I have been in the same location for over 23 years. Wow, it only seems like yesterday. Many of my customers have been with me since the very beginning. I really appreciate their loyalty. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for them.
Thank you very much for your continued support!
Darlene
I also want to say thank you to my mom. Without her stopping by and filling in occasionally, I wouldn't have made it.
